IBSU hosted U.S. Ambassador Kelly Dedgnan
The International Black Sea University hosted the Ambassador of the United States of America, Kelly Degnan. During the visit, the Ambassador met with the Rector of the University, Saffet Bayraktutan.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education, Dr. Tamar Shioshvili, talked about 20 years of cooperation history between the international Black Sea University and Embassy of the United States and introduced the undergraduate program in American Studies, which is the only English-language program in this field in Georgia.
„We are proud of our long-standing history of cooperation between IBSU and the Embassy of the USA in Georgia. Our cooperation consists of different dimensions, including diversity activities within the American studies program. Also, we should mention the newly accredited program of Digital Media and Communication, which was designed in analogy with Loyola University (Chicago, Illinois) Master program of Digital Media and Visual Storytelling and was prepared with the support of U.S. Embassy in Georgia,”- stated the Rector of IBSU, Saffet Bayraktutan.
During the meeting, Ambassador Degnan discussed that our American Studies program brings together Georgian culture and American culture and it is fantastic for strengthening the ties between America and Georgia.
“I’m delighted to be here and have a chance to meet with the IBSU students and professors,” – stated the Ambassador.
The Ambassador met American Studies program students and lecturers. They discussed Georgia-US relations and prospects of future cooperation between the Embassy and IBSU.
