Presentation “American Elections”
Althea Cawley-Murphree, Assistant of Press and Information Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia met the American Studies program Students, Professors and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education, Coordinator of American Studies BA and PhD programs – Affiliated Prof. Dr. Tamar Shioshvili. Invited guest gave presentation on the Elections in the U.S on the request of students. High rank diplomat talked about the history of the U.S. Elections from the days of George Washington and gave the detailed explanation of the structure and specificity of the American Elections that is unique in the whole world, being formed during centuries and is still in the process of refinement. The guest underlined the necessity of well-formulated system of elections, that is so crucial for strengthening the democracy.
