On June 23-24, International Black Sea University hosted TEMPUS La MANCHE National Conference: Leading and Managing Change in Higher Education. The La MANCHE project’s overall objective is to promote the modernization of the Higher Education (HE) in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The La MANCHE consortium is a partnership of 29 institutions – 23 Higher Education Institutions from the Eastern Neighboring Area, five HEIs from the EU and one business development company from the UK. The consortium represents ten countries: five Partner Countries (PCs) from the Eastern Neighboring Area – Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, and five EU countries – Bulgaria, France, Greece, Portugal and the UK.
Opening addresses were made by Prof. Dr. Natela Doghonadze – Vice Rector of International Black Sea University, and Mrs. Nino Urushadze on behalf of the National Erasmus + Office, Georgia. The La MANCHE project and strategies were presented by the project coordinator Christina Armutlieva. The keynote speakers of the conference were: Dr. Irine Darchia – Ministry of Education and Science; Lasha Margishvili – National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement; Melanie Shaw – University College Birmingham, United Kingdom; Dr Nedka Dimitrova – Varna University of Management, Bulgaria; Dr Jose Luis Exposto and Dr Leonel Domingues Duesdado – Polytechnic Institute of Braganca, Portugal. The main emphasis was made on modernizing and improving the higher education institutions.
